There's still time to help us make this a Spring Against Hunger!
Join the campaign now until June 20th!
In 2016 alone, we distributed more than 41,000 meals out of our Food Pantry, and more than 57,000 meals out of our Meal Center. Help support the hundreds of families and individuals who rely on our services daily.
If you have already supported the campaign, we thank you for your generosity.
If you have not yet had the chance to do so, read our full Spring Against Hunger letter.
Thanks to our community family, our first annual Summer Sizzle Mini Golf Tournament was a huge success! Over 50 golfers hit the course at Putt U Miniature Golf for a fun morning of food, raffles, mini golf, and tournament prizes. Congratulations to the lowest scoring team of our first annual event (pictured, top left).
Additional thanks to Putt U Miniature Golf, Whole Foods Allentown, Saxbys on Morton Street, Ocean Spray of the Lehigh Valley, Fresh Market Center Valley, and all of our hole sponsors for making the day extra special!
SAVE THE DATE FOR OUR SECOND ANNUAL SUMMER SIZZLE: Saturday, June 2nd, 2018 at Putt U Miniature Golf
May and early June have proved quite exciting at New Bethany Ministries:
Top Left: Thanks to members of Northampton Community College's Sprout Initiative, as well as to volunteers from the Kappa Sigma Fraternity at Lehigh University, Epworth United Methodist Church, and Aesculap, our garden space is up and growing! We will continue projects in the garden throughout the summer to make the space a warm and welcoming retreat for our families and individuals.
Top Right: Thanks to your online votes and support, New Bethany Ministries was awarded $25,000 toward our new, Choice-Based Food Pantry Renovation Project via a 50th Anniversary Spark Grant from the Lehigh Valley Community Foundation. We are incredibly excited to bring accessible, choice-based food support to even more families in the Lehigh Valley with this new project. You can check out our SPARK Grant Video submission here.
Middle Left: Our friends at First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem have pledged additional funding in support of our Kitchen Renovation Project. This pledge finalizes the funding needed to complete the project! We hope to finish the kitchen this summer to ensure an updated, more comfortable space for all of the generous groups who prepare and serve meals in our Mollard Hospitality Center daily.
Middle Right: Thanks to members of the team from Liberty Mutual for serving in our Hospitality Center and Transitional Housing Program on May 5th. 10 members of the team served a combined total of forty hours alongside us.
Bottom Left: Members of our Board of Directors served lunch to approximately 150 people on Wednesday, May 31st.
Bottom Right: Our first housing renovation project was completed earlier this spring. In May, the home was rented to a local family. New Bethany has now begun renovation of our second home on East 4th Street.
Summer is one of the most difficult times of the year for New Bethany Ministries. As schools close and schedules change, we experience a season of decreased donations and volunteer hours. However, this time of the year also coincides with a season of additional need for those we serve. In losing school breakfast and lunch subsidy programs, and in facing increased heat and need for hydration, summer is not always a season of fun for those we serve.
Hydration items like water bottles, Gatorade bottles, or drink mix packets
Hygiene items like deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, razors, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and lotion (our favorite souvenir from your summer travels is hotel-sized toiletries!)
